Sullivan's (Sullys)

Sullivan's
Sullivan's (Sullys) at Castle Island in South Boston is my favorite restaurant in the City of Boston.  When I was younger I can just remember my grandparents taking my brother and I over to Southie to go walk around Castle Island and after the walk grab a bite to eat.  Castle Island and Sullys has been around for 60 years as it opened in 1951.  It's just a big island where during the summer time people just walk around as it is surrounded by the water, sailing boats, fishing boats, logan airport which is right across the street, and an old old castle which was actually used during World War I.  Sullys is a restaurant with no where to sit on the inside so you must go outside where you have many options to sit especially if is a hot day out.  You can sit on the few benches or tables, you can sit in your car, you can sit on the beach, on the grass, it doesn't matter.

Sullys is known for not being to flashy.  It's the uniquiness and the experience of just walking around Castle Island and just smelling water right and the pressence of all of the seagulls trying to snag your food away from you.  It's one of those places that just can't be changed as it's just good old Boston at its finest.  If it got too fancy and or too expensive the joint would be shut down.  There is a fine reason why it has stayed the same for 60 years and that's because the people of Boston like it just the way it is.
